I let my 2 year old play with my ipad and he loves it. He loves the alphabet apps and learns new words and what the image represents. I don't think you need to be using it as an extra TV, but the education apps are really great and the child does learn!

I have the alphababy and Animal Fun apps on my IPad for my 15 month old, and he does enjoy playing with them. He sees mama playing with the IPad and he wants a turn, so I found child friendly games. He also loves to play the kinect dance and exercise games with us. But I do limit his time, just a few minutes here or there. Everything in moderation!
