It’s a Fifty Shades of Grey Baby Boom!
Photos: Vintage / ThinkstockWe should have known this would happen. Moms-to-be on The Bump 6 Weeks Pregnant board (six weeks is around the time most women find out they’re expecting), are saying the racy novel Fifty Shades of Grey had quite a bit to do with their babies’ conception. Here’s what a few of them have to say:
“So approximately six weeks ago, I read the Fifty Shades series. We found out we were expecting about a week ago. My husband said to me yesterday, ‘Honey, if it’s a boy we should name him Christian.’ I told him that would be perfect considering Mr. Grey is the one who got us to this point.”
“I am definitely having a Shades of Grey baby and I know of a friend or two who are as well! I will bet that we’re not the only ones!”
“Christian Grey is absolutely the reason we are expecting! I read all three books twice within two weeks and well, we got the positive pregnancy early last week. My husband also said that we should name the baby Christian if it’s a boy. I’m sure there will be a lot of Christians in 2013!”
“Yup, ours is too! We got pregnant on a trip to Mexico and everyone on the beach and by the pool was reading it too. That was my prediction — our babies will have a huge class at graduation!”
Naming a baby after the book’s main character (a sadomasochist?) probably isn’t a good idea — these ladies are obviously joking — but hey, if reading it spices up your babymaking, then go for it.
Are you into the Fifty Shades books? Do you think they helped you conceive?

Yaaay, you got pregnant because of porn. Way to go! That’s never happened before.
But it’s a book! Not porn! (Note my sarcasm)
Not saying it’s not funny though
Stop brig so bitchy. It’s a good book and it’s not porno even if it were if that’s what gets people in the mood so be it. Piss off with your attitude and actually read the book.
I got pregnant the month I read these books but it truly was just the timing. I was out of class, relaxed, and had stopped thinking about getting pregnant all the time.
Everyone is talking about 50 Shades…I must read this series!
Um, this is ridiculous. I feel sorry for these babies.
Why do you feel sorry…?
Haha, I haven’t read the books yet, but so many friends of mine have and say it is a must-read, but this definitely might be the pusher to make me finally read them!
i finally caved and bought the first book a few days ago…everyones been talking about it so apparently i need to get into it n see what all this hype is about!!
I was already pregnant when I started reading the books, but hey, it still helped me do my thing.

I read all the books and felt it was total girl porn.
I however also think that Christian was an abusive, controlling man, that used sex as a weapon. So if you think your child will ever find out where their name came from… maybe it isn’t a good idea.
Oh jeez, here we go…
Rather ridiculously. This is true for us…I’m not a fan of the book, but rather read it on the recommendation of a friend…it did get me in the mood though and I ended up jumping my husband at 3:00 am…we have an eight month old, so we weren’t trying for a baby, we usually use condoms as I have a history of pcos and so it was very difficult to conceive our daughter, taking us over a year. Well, two weeks later, I missed my period and yup, I’m pregnant…so we’re having a fifty shades baby. I’d be ashamed to admit it, but we’re absolutely thrilled to be expecting again! So thanks EL James…even if it is trash. Lol
