I still need my mom and I'm going to be 37 in 4 days. You never stop being a parent. You only get to stop needing a babysitter and changing diapers and having to tell them not to lick the electrical socket. And frankly, I wouldn't want my girls to go to anyone else besides me or their mom (even though I know they will) if they needed something. No matter how old they get or bald I get.

It's so much more than 18 years. My mom tells me that all the time! Even though I am 42 years old, she is still parenting me. Even as I'm an almost 40 (cough, cough) woman, he still has the desire to be needed as a parent. We're supposed to be raising our kids to be independent human beings, but I can see how that parenting/love will never actually turn off.
