Thank you so much for this post. I had a shorter than normal maternity leave (7 weeks) but was still committed to breastfeeding. However, the point on adjusting your goals is extremely poignant. I had built up a pretty impressive freezer stash by setting my alarm and pumping at night (my daughter slept through the night early on) but due to low supply and a stressful job that didn't leave time for pumping 3 times a day - it dwindled pretty quickly. My initial goal of exclusively nursing for 1 year got adjusted at 9 months to a majority of breast milk along with some formula supplementing. My advice to other BFing Moms is to be flexible and realistic.

I am a Full -term Substituted Teacher, to every school that I travel. I must get permission from each school that I teach to take personal break which last about 45 min. It allows me to go to my baby and breastfeed him; somethimes it seems odd. At 2 months my son now weighs 11pounds 12oz. I also use fumular feeding in my absents!
