Oh wow, my kids are so fortunate that both of my GRAND PARENTS (their great grandparents) are still around let alone they have their great-grandmother on my hubbies side as well. We remind them constantly how fortunate they are as children growing up with that kind of wisdom and history to influence them. When I read stories like this, it reminds me to never take it for granted.

My son had an amazing bond with my Mom. She was diagnosed with terminal Cancer when he was almost 4. On May 17th 2008 (my Mom and Dad's 33rd wedding anniversary) I found out I was pregnant with our second son. My Mom passed away just one week later. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to tell her I was pregnant and see how happy she was even though she knew she wouldn't make it till the baby was born. I so wish she was still here to meet my second and now third boys and wish they had the opportunity to share the bond with her that my oldest son did.

When I hear stories like this I realize how blessed my kids & I are. I knew 6 of my great grandparents into my adult years. 2 of my kids knew 1 of their great, great grandmas, 4 of their great grandparents and my youngest knew 3 of her great grandparents. I am blessed to still have 3 grandparents alive and my kids have all 4 of their grandparents alive. How many people can say they truly got the chance to know, learn from & love so many of their grandparents?

My Grandmother's have been gone for a few years now, which still is sad to me. But we lost my Grandmother in law 3 months before our son was born, and then my Mother in law passed unexpectedly 2 weeks before he was born. Those women were over joyed to become Great Grandma and Grandma, and even though they didn't live to meet him they loved him from the moment they knew about him! It hurts my heart that they aren't here to see what a beautiful little baby boy he is! I wish they Could see what an AMAZING father that Luke is, and how hard he's working to support our family so i can be a SAHM. Loosing a loved one is NEVER easy! But I think when it happens when you're expecting it hurts much deeper. I commend her for giving such a wonderful gift to her dying father in law and her hubby. It was a beautiful and selfless thing she did to surprise them like she did! I'm sure that allowed the FIL to pass on with a memory he'd always cherish.

Both of my husbands parents have passed years ago so my son never got to meet them. When I was 6 months my father nearly died of a brain aneurysm, but by God's grace he survived and got to hold his grandson on Christmas Day 2011. I was so afraid that he wouldn't have the chance but beyond thankful he did. Today he loves watching my boy walk and play everywhere!
