7 Celebrity Moms Who Said ‘No’ to Shedding the Baby Weight Fast

It seems like everyday there’s a new celebrity mama that comes out of the woodwork looking amazing just days after delivering baby. We know that’s not the norm (and not something mom’s should aspire to, anyway!), so we did some digging to see just which celebrity mamas were out there talking about losing the baby weight the healthy way – without rushing to drop the pounds.

Recently, new mama Kristen Bell made headlines when she opened up on Twitter about her desire not to lose the baby weight, if that’s what her postpartum body wanted. She said, “I’m proud to sit out of the baby weight rat race.” And even though she’s still 15 pounds away from her pre-pregnancy body, she’s not in overdrive trying to melt away the weight. She tweeted, “I’m going to continue working out and see where it goes. I like my Lincoln Leftovers because they’re proof I did something extraordinary. I gave life to my new BFF & she gave me a comical amount of midsection skin.” Aw, Kristen! We love your Lincoln Leftovers, too! You go, mama.

Here’s why these seven stars didn’t give in to the Hollywood pressure:

Kristen Bell

Mama to: Lincoln Bell Shepard, March 28, 2013

Why she's not stressing losing the baby weight: "I’d like to get back down to where I was before the baby, but if this is where my body wants to be, so be it. I’m not going to make myself miserable for the rest of my life trying to get back to where I was before."

On how she deals with the pressure to be bounce back: “I refused to worry about something I could not change, and I still refuse. I had to surrender to not worrying about the way I looked, how much I weighed, because that’s just part of the journey of having a baby. I am not a woman whose self-worth comes from her dress size.” Amen, sister!

Alyssa Milano

Mama to: Milo Thomas Bugliari, August 31, 2011

Why she's not stressing losing the baby weight: “At the time, I could have cared less about what my body was doing as long as it was nurturing my child. The thought of dieting or going to the gym did not even cross my mind. I was just very consumed with being a mom.

On how she deals with the pressure to bounce back: "I feel like the pressure to lose that baby weight in what I do is just ridiculous. Is it to get the magazine cover? If for 99 percent of women in the world, it takes 18 months to lose the baby weight, why do you want to be that other 1 percent where it takes six weeks? I realized that the weight stayed on me, so that I could make milk. Also, you know, to be cuddly! I just wanted to be cuddly for Milo."

Kendra Wilkinson

Mama to: Hank Baskett IV, December 11, 2009

Why she's not stressing losing the baby weight: “I had to really look deep into myself and think more about myself,” she added. “I’m a deep thinker and there’s this thing I always think about: what if today, mirrors just went away. What if your reflection just went away? What if I had no pictures of myself? Would I feel great, would I feel pretty? And the answer is: yes I would. The mirror can play tricks on you."

On how she deals with the pressure to bounce back: "“The media is the media. They’re going to do what they please. I’m okay with it."

Kate Middleton

Mama to: Prince George Alexander Louis, July 22, 2013

Kate hasn't come forward with any comments on her postpartum agenda (and shouldn't have to -- she just had her baby, after all!), but as you can see from the photo, a picture really is worth a thousand words. We love that her first outing a day after delivering her baby boy showed off how a real woman's body looks. But just because she's barely a week postpartum doesn't mean the media has taken a backseat to her "sprint to skinny." OK Magazine released a chilling cover story about the new mama's road to slim. Give us a break!

Are you proud of these moms? Did you rush to lose the baby weight?
