8 of the Sweetest Comments Celebrity Dads Have Made About Fatherhood (Grab the Tissues!)

There’s nothing like being a new daddy. Not like I know from experience (as I am neither a parent, nor a man), but I’m just going on good faith that being a new daddy has got to be one of the most incredible feelings in the world. And judging by Kanye West‘s most recent comments on his devotion to Kim Kardashian and their daughter, 2-month-old baby North, I’m pretty sure there really is nothing sweeter than a man who loves his children.

The doting new daddy was a guest on the Kardashian momager’s show Kris, and it was there that the first-time father let the world in on his very private life — including just how much Kim and baby North mean to him. So grab the tissues and get ready for a slew of happy tears because when I told you that there was nothing sweeter than a man who loves his kids, I meant it:

"My grandfather just passed and his whole thing was never about money, it was never about popularity. His whole thing was joy. Just joy, like having joy in his life. She's my joy and she brought my new joy into the world. After I lost my mother, there were times I felt I would put my life at risk. I felt like sometimes I didn't have something to live for. Now I have two really special people to live for, a whole family to live for, a whole world to live for."

"I think the last few weeks for me have been just a very different emotional experience. Something I never thought I would feel myself. And I find, again it's only been a short period, but a lot of things affect me differently now. As any new parent knows, you're only too happy to show off your new child and, you know, proclaim that he is the best looking or the best everything."

"Well, I've never protected the president, but I have been a new dad, and I can tell you that being a new dad is pretty terrifying. I'm pretty sure that something about the president makes the stakes a little higher, but to me as a new father, nothing is more important or scary than protecting a daughter."

"When I look at her, it’s like when I was in 7th grade and fell in love for the first time, where it’s debilitating. That’s available 24/7 if I want, which is amazing.”

"You would do anything for your children -- not that you wouldn't for your wife or someone else you love but there's a sense of protectiveness and responsibility that comes with your child which you don't feel in any other relationship. He has changed my life in every possible way."

"Had my first son this morning... well, actually, my wife had him. I just caught him. Wow. Heart expanding way faster than my brain... If you could bottle up and distribute this feeling, I swear there'd be no more war. #fatherhood."

Ben Affleck

Daddy to: Violet, Seraphina and Samuel Affleck

"Family is a wonderful thing, but it doesn't mean you can't do other stuff in your life. In fact, having a family makes whatever other thing you have that much richer. If it was just me, I'd be home alone and think, 'Well, something good happened at work,' but it's much nicer to share it with people you love."

"Fatherhood is the best thing I ever did. It changes your perspective. You can write a book, you can make a movie, you can paint a painting, but having kids is really the most extraordinary thing I have taken on."
