Step2 just announced a voluntary recall on 14,000 of their Whisper Ride Touring Wagons. The Wagons were recalled because the removable blue seat backs can detatch, posing a fall risk for kids inside. So far there have been 29 different reports of the seat detaching, with 28 children falling out. Fourteen incidents have resulted in bumps and bruises, but thankfully no serious injuries.

How to know if your Step2 has been recalled? Check the design. The two-seat plastic wagon looks like the photo above and has blue seats, a tan wagon base and a red canopy. The Step2 logo appears on the canopy as well as the wagon base.

What should you do if you own the recalled wagon? Stop using it immediately. If the seat belt is attached to the removable back seat, content Step2 online or by telephone at (866) 860-1887 and they’ll send over a free repair kit. You can also stay updated on recall information by clicking “Product Recall” on their website. Step2 wagon’s were sold exclusively at Toys R Us both in-stores and online between February 2013 and August 2013. They were sold for about $130.
