Welcome to our 2013 Bumpie Best countdown! We’re highlighting the most talked about, most stylish and most amazing new mom, pregnancy and fertility moments that have taken place over the past year. Wondering which celeb mama we most admired in 2013? Or which nursery trend was most loved by moms-to-be? Stay tuned, y’all! Over the next 18 days, we’re rolling though the most defining moments the Year of the Snake brought us.

2013′s Most Down-to-Earth Celebrity Pregnancy Was…

Sorry, but no contest here! The award goes, hands down, to new mama Jenna Dewan-Tatum.

When Jenna and her red-hot husband announced they were expecting, we were bracing ourselves for another star-studded celebrity pregnancy, but what we got was anything but normal (at least for Tinseltown). Sure, Jenna looked as flawless as ever, but it was her honest, down-to-earth comments on motherhood, parenting and her celebrity friends that made us fall for the mama even harder than we already were.

Early on in her pregnancy, Jenna graced the cover of Glamour and gave an eye-opening interview into the type of mom she wanted to be. She told the mag, “We have two dogs, so we’ve had some practice! Who knows what kind of parents we’ll be? As soon as this baby comes into the world, Channing and I will figure it out real fast. I think, ‘How in the world am I going to do all this?’ I have no idea what I’m up against. But I’m as mentally prepared as I can be. It’s an adventure!” More often than not we hear about celeb — and common — moms who say “I’m going to do this!” or “We’re going to do this!” before baby’s even arrived and before they even know what they’re up against. Jenna’s take-it-as-it-comes comments were refreshing and a reminder of the qualities that make a great parent: Patience and practice.

Jenna even used her star power to speak up for another famous pregnant face at the time: Kim Kardashian. After some seriously harsh comments were made about Kim’s maternity fashion choices, Jenna took the high road, saying, “Let’s all be kind to every woman out there who is expecting. It shouldn’t be about how much weight someone has gained, their fashion etc . . . it’s a beautiful amazing moment in time and not about vanity.”

We loved Jenna’s pregnancy because it was so very similar to what it’s like for the everyday moms-to-be. Her chic fashion choices and sunny maternity statement pieces and comments on motherhood, pregnancy and women in general made us so proud (and yet still so envious she calls that fine piece of man her husband!). To complete the Circle of Life, Jenna and Channing welcomed daughter Everly Tatum to the mix over Memorial Day Weekend. We’re willing to bet that since then, life has never been so sweet.
