What a Home Birth Really Looks Like
The beauty of birth (like, physically pushing a baby out of the womb and into the world) is something that most women wait to experience first hand. Now, thanks to modern technology, we don’t have to wait until our time comes to see just how incredible the moments leading up to baby’s first cries truly are.
Case and point: Ruth Iorio. Ruth had her heart set on sharing her thoughts, feelings and photos the moment her contractions started. She shared, live-tweeted and posted photos that show the chaos, pure joy and overwhelming excitement that come before meeting your child. To be fair, they document the pain too (sorry!). And the best part of all? Ruth did it all at home.
Take a look at the breathtaking images below. The raw emotion of it all may bring you tears, so I’d suggest a pack of Kleenex (just sayin’).
Shortly after delivering her handsome little boy, Nye, at home, Ruth was rushed to a hospital because her placenta failed to detach. Once there, her placenta was safely delivered and she was given pain-relieving medication as well as blood transfusions. She spent two nights in the hospital’s care to ensure that she was healthy.
