5 Guilt-Free Summer Desserts Your Whole Family Will Love

We totally get it — you want to give your kids a summer treat, but you’re wary of a sugar high. Get ready to turn your back on the ice cream man, because we’ve rounded up five (mostly) healthy treats filled with fresh fruit.

1. Roasted Fruit Crunch

The only indulgent part of this sweet fruit recipe is the crumbled amaretti cookies on top. (And since they’re balanced out by all of that fruit, the calories practically don’t count.)

Ingredients:

1 large apple, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 large pear, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 cup halved seedless red or green grapes
1 cup raspberries or blueberries
¼ cup orange marmalade
¼ cup orange juice
6 amaretti cookies, coarsely crumbled (about 1⁄3 cup)
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Butter a 2-quart baking dish.

Scatter the fruit in the baking dish. (You should have about 5 to 6 cups.) Stir together the marmalade and orange juice and spoon the mixture over the fruit.

Toss the cookie crumbs and sugar together and sprinkle over the top of the fruit. Dot with the butter. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the fruit is tender. Let cool slightly before serving.
