It’s 2015, people! That means gender equality starts at playtime.

Amazon eliminated gendered categories from its primary filtering options on the Toys & Games page. While you could previously search based on categories like gender, age range, price range and interests, the gender column has been removed.

While the change is subtle, it’s a step in the right direction. It also reflects a changing toy industry, where companies like GoldieBlox are manufacturing action figure dolls and more feminine engineering toys, and moms are creating their own American Boy Dolls.

Do traditionally-gendered toys work best for your kids? Those categorized  boys and  girls pages still exist; they’re just not listed in the preset categories you can click on the left hand side of the page.

Could a change from “Amazon Moms” to “Amazon Family” be the next logical step? You’ll know when we know.
