The CPSC just announced a voluntary recall of all remaining models of Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill infant recliners and covers. Today’s recall was announced as part of the settlement reached in the administrative case filed by the CPSC in 2012.

In the past four years, the CPSC staff received over 92 separate complaints surrounding the Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill products, which included five infant deaths. In December of 2012, four major retailers including Amazon.com, BuyBuyBaby, Diapers.com and Babies ‘R Us/Toys ‘R Us.com announced a voluntary recall of all Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill models that were sold in their stores. At that time, the CPSC filed an administrative complaint against Baby Matters LLC, seeking a recall of the Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill infant recliners. Today, they have officially reached an agreement.

As part of the agreement, the CPSC announced just  recall on 165,000 Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill products. The recall of the 165,000 products ends the legal proceedings against the firm. These infant recliners sold between 2009 and 2012 for roughly $130. The CPSC suggests that you throw the products away immediately to ensure that they are not used, or resold for profit again. The 165,000 products included in the recall were not sold at major retailers but were instead sold at toy and children’s retail stores nationwide and online, including NapNanny.com.

Because Baby Matters LLC is no longer in business, the CPSC urges customers to stop consumers to immediately stop using any and all Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill recliners.

Even though the due date on Kate Middleton’s pregnancy is dwindling down by the second (mama-to-be is reportedly due on July 13th!), it looks like there’s no slowing the expectant Duchess down! Tomorrow officially marks the start of her Royal Maternity Leave but over the weekend, she was spotted checking out some nursery fabric possibilities at the high end wallpaper-design store Bernard Thorp & Co. Here’s the ultimate kicker: an onlooker revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge spent 45 minutes picking out blue prints for the nursery walls and drapes. We’ve said it again and again and again, but it looks like Kate and Will are prepping to welcome a baby heir to the English throne.

Though she reportedly didn’t make any purchases that day, looks like the mum-to-be is hoping to outfit baby’s nursery with some chic, designer studs in her time off. But really, when you’re royal, who has time for shopping from store to store? Not Kate, that’s who! Today, the CPSC in conjuction with Pottery Barn Kids announced a recall of 12,000 Sweet Lambie Crib Bumpers due to the fact that the thread in the decorative stitching on the bumper can loosen, which poses an entanglement hazard for infants. So far, only two incidents of the decorative stitching coming loose and entangling children have been reported, but no serious injuries have been noted.

Here’s what you need to know:

The recall includes Sweet Lambie Bumpers manufactured between April 2009 through Jule of 2012. The cotton bumpers are padded and are sized to fit standard cribs. The designs of lambs in grass and of lambs with trees are embroidered on the interior and exterior of each bumper and sold in pink, blue, oatmeal/ivory colors. The following model numbers appear on the tags (fastened to the bottom edge of each bumper): 708859, 708917, 7988348.

If you own the Sweet Lambie Crib Bumpers, you should immediately check the tags for the month and year of manufacture (as well as the model number) and stop using the product if the date is 04/2009 through 07/2012. If you own the recalled bumpers, contact Pottery Barn Kids immediately for instructions on how to return the bumpers and receive a gift card in the amount of a full refund. Costumers can also receive a replacement bumper, with free return shipping for the recalled bumpers, if they would like.

Consumers should immediately check the tag on the bumper for the month and year of manufacture and stop using the bumper if the date is 04/2009 through 07/2012. Consumers with recalled bumpers should contact Pottery Barn Kids for instructions on how to return the bumpers to receive a gift card in the amount of a full refund or a replacement bumper and to receive free return shipping for recalled bumpers. The bumpers were sold online, in catalogs and at Pottery Barn Outlet stores throughout the nation for between $129 and $149.

For parents who want to know more about crib and bumper safety, the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission called for a “re-examination” of bumpers after reports that 52 infants died from bumper-related incidents between 1990 and 2010. The danger? An infant could suffocate if his nose and mouth get trapped under or against the pad. Plus, the American Academy of Pediatrics warns that an older baby could use a bumper to climb out of the crib, so it poses a danger of baby falling too. We think bumping his head or getting his arm “stuck” between the rails is minor compared to that. To be completely safe, keep everything, except for a mattress, a fitted crib sheet and a light receiving blanket or swaddle (oh, and your baby!), out of the crib.
