The CPSC just announced a voluntary recall of the Jeep Liberty Strollers by Kolcraft due to the fact that the inner tube of the tire on the stroller can rupture, which would cause the wheel rim to fracture and fly off. So far, 96,000 strollers in the United States have been recalled and 510 in Canada.

Here’s what you need to know:

The recall includes Jeep Liberty branded strollers with model numbers starting with: JL031, JL032, JL034, JL035 and JL036. They were manufactured between June 2010 and September of 2011. The model number and date of manufacture are printed on a white tag on the rear upper center of each seatback pad. Each stroller has three-wheels and were sold in different color combinations with a metal black and silver frame, including a green seat and canopy; a gray seat and canopy with a teal blue stripe across the center of the canopy; an orange seat and canopy with a tan stripe; a tan seat and canopy with yellow stripe across the center top of the canopy; and a tan seat and canopy with an orange canopy rim. The word “Jeep” is printed on the side of the stroller and on the front of the stroller tray. There is a plastic red toy steering wheel, ignition key and orange shift lever mounted on a yellow base attached to the stroller tray.

Important to note: If your stroller wheels have a gray triangle located on the rim at the valve stem, then your stroller wheels are not included in this recall.

To date, Kolcraft and the CPSC have received 39 reports of inner tube ruptures, which have caused the wheel to fly off. Of the noted reports, 18 of the incidents included injuries. So far, 14 injuries have been sustained while parents or caregivers were trying to fill the tire with air. Two children have cuts on their chin or leg while standing near the stroller and 16 adults have received cuts, contusions and/or lacerations to their arms, legs, stomachs, heads and faces.

What to do if you have the recalled product:

Stop using it immediately. The CPSC advises that you contact Kolcraft to receive free replacement wheels. In the meantime, you can use a manual bicycle pump to inflate stroller tires to a maximum of 30 p.s.i. Do not use gas station air pumps to inflate stroller tires. Kolcraft strollers were sold at Burlington Coat Factory, Sears and Toys ‘R Us nationwide, onlnie and at other mass market retailers between June 2010 and June 2013 for between $150 and $180.

Summertime and the livin’ is easy! Unless you’re a new parent, of course, in which case the livin’ is pretty hard, what with all the diapers, feedings, not sleeping… But if you’re lucky, you’ll still be able to get away for a little summer break, like you did before you had kids. We took our first post-baby vacation when my firstborn was 3 months old. I knew things would be different with a baby but I didn’t fully understand just how different.

As a mom I know once put it, “There’s no such thing as a vacation with kids. It’s just travel.” We have actually had some trips that were very close to being vacations, almost relaxing even! You just have to modify your idea of a vacation – there’s a before baby and an after baby.

Before: You enjoy sleeping in every morning. If you’re up before noon, that’s early.
After: You now consider 6:45 a.m. “sleeping in.” Actually, anything past 5 a.m.

Before: Cocktails at happy hour.
After: Strong coffee at sunrise.

Before: Your favorite vacation activity is a long bike ride or hike.
After: Your favorite vacation activity is lounging in the hammock with the baby.

Before: You can’t wait to hit the beach in your new bikini.
After: A bathing suit in public? Let alone a bikini? Are you kidding me?!

Before: You look forward to having time to read that stack of novels on your bedside table so you have something to talk about at book club.
After: You look forward to finishing an entire issue of People magazine so you have something to talk about at your new moms’ group.

How have your vacations changed since you had kids?

In the most shocking and fascinating news to trickle out this week (yep! Even bigger than Kim Kardashian’s top secret baby name), the Venezuelan Congress will discuss legislation that would prohibit bottle feeding infants. This would be done as part of a larger effort to both encourage breastfeeding and reduce the use of baby formula. A lawmaker of the ruling Socialist Party in Venezuela, Legislator Odalis Monzon, said that the proposal would “prohibit all types of baby bottles” as as way to improve children’s health across the country as well as reestablish the bonds between mother and baby.

Monzon, in a television interview given last Thursday, said, “Every baby has the right to breastfeeding. We want to increase the love (between mother and child) because this has been lost as a result of these transnational companies selling formula.” Talk about a knockout punch — I’m not sure of any other country in the world that’s made a connection between bottle feeding and love lost between parent and child. In 2007, Venezuela passed the Law for the Promotion and Support for Breast-feeding, but Monzon said that the law fell short as it did not establish any sanctions for using formula. When pressed, Monzon did not come forward with details on what these new sanctions would be if the proposed change to prohibit bottle feeding would be if the law is passed by Congress. The likelihood of it passing is high due to the fact that the Socialist Party (where the legislation was born) holds the majority. Currently, Venezuela’s Health Ministry reported that 27.1 percent of mothers in the country who are able to breastfeed actually do so. The aim of officials is to increase that number to 70 percent by 2019.

Monzon did note that exceptions to the legislation would be allowed in the event that there was a death of the mother or that a woman’s breast milk production was limited — but that would have to be determined by the health ministry before a mother would be given the okay to formula feed. The groundbreaking legislation would also provide for the creation of more breast-milk banks throughout the country as well as require companies to set aside space for mothers to nurse. There’s no word on what type of punishment violators will face.

A lawmaker from the Justice First party, Eduardo Marin, finds the proposal “unacceptable and alarming,” and if I’m completely honest, I think most would agree. He said that the 2007 law that Monzon is pushing to amend was aimed at promoting breastfeeding, not “questioning, stigmatizing and practically criminalizing those who have opted for (other methods) of feeding. Marin has it completely correct. The creation and passage of this new law would completely penalize — and at the most extreme, oppress — mothers who bottle fed their children. While it’s amazing to think of the leaps and bounds Venezuela has taken to make breastfeeding the norm for Venezuelans — and for neighboring societies, I think there is something to be said about outlawing bottle feeding entirely.

What do you think? Should a country be allowed to ban bottle feeding?

As new parents, we worry about making mistakes with our new little delicate delivery — our baby. I made a few mistakes, but they had nothing to do with our new arrival; instead, the things I screwed up were all things that had nothing to with baby and everything to do with me. If I could tell my pregnant-self one thing, it would be to remember that your body will be an ever-changing creature, so don’t give up on it.

I was frustrated when I started back at work after baby and none of my work pants fit. I’d squeezed into my jeans but the unforgiving fabrics of professional attire wouldn’t budge an inch (divas), so I bought two new pairs of pants to get me through (or, to my chagrin, to start my new wardrobe of sizes a wee-bit bigger than before). It wasn’t two weeks of being back on the job that I lost those final pounds… and then some. I was breastfeeding, so my body was burning the midnight oil when it came to calories. Plus, when I returned to work, I was more active and less sedentary, even with a desk job. Thankfully I’d just purchased those two pairs of pants, so I hadn’t spent a ton of money. Now they’re too big and for awhile, even my old clothes were too big. Lately I’ve begun slowly weaning my son, so I only nurse in the evening and sometimes in the morning. The “bonus” pounds I lost have come back and I feel like I’m almost back to my old self.

Here are the three “mistakes” I made:

1. Getting Rid of My Old Clothes

It’s also summer now, so I really regret throwing out nearly all of my summer clothes last year when I thought, “I’ll never fit into these again!” I would keep your old clothes at least for a year, even if you’re not fitting into them. I’ll also be keeping those pants that became too big in preparation for my future post-pregnancy body. I’m learning that, even after almost a year post-birth, my body is still changing and rearranging!

2. Not Taking Care of My Skin

After the birth of my son, my skin changed dramatically. I had oily skin — and always had. One day when he was about three months old, I woke up and my skin was dry. Beyond dry. It was uncomfortable; still itchy and flaky dry after numerous coats of my old moisturizer. I finally broke down and bought cleanser and moisturizer for dry skin. It felt strange to go out and buy moisturizer because I’d never had dry skin before. But, I’m glad I caved. My skin felt so much better! Lo and behold, a few weeks ago, my former skin came back. One day, my face had the sheen of a grease slick and it was back to my roots as an oily girl. It may have to do with hormones, breastfeeding less or who knows? The point is that even your skin will throw you for a loop — even months after baby arrives. Thankfully, I’d kept all of my prior skin care products (mostly because they were expensive!), but I’d almost thrown them out on several occasions.

3. Throwing Out My Pre-Pregnancy Bras

I’m a small-chested girl (and proud of it!), so when my boobies swelled beyond my wildest expectations, I may have gone a little overboard and parted with my prior bras. The phrase “I’ll never fit into this again!” reared it’s ugly head again and out they went. Warning: when you stop nursing, your gals deflate. If you’re losing baby weight on top of this, well… let’s just say when you call “helloooo!” to them in their cavernous homes in a bra that’s too big, you get plenty of echos in response. Speaking from the perspective of a respectable B-cup, it may be different for you. Hang on to your old bras for a year (or until you’re done nursing) just in case.

Our bodies are amazing things, constantly adapting to our new roles. Don’t stress, and for Pete’s sake, don’t discard everything that you own on the whim of your changing body. Just enjoy the ride! Your wallet will thank you later.

What mistakes did you make after baby arrived?

Just two days after welcoming her first child with boyfriend, Kanye West, the rumor mill is abuzz with name predictions for Kim Kardashian’s baby girl! A source close to Kardashian and her beau, West, leaked to E! News that baby girl’s name would “start with a K” — but that’s not all. Early reports suggest that baby girl West looks just like her mama! The source, who blabbed only to E! News, told the entertainment network that though baby girl will take on her daddy’s last name, she is definitely a Kardashian, saying, “She had dark hair. She looks just like Kim!” And I don’t know about y’all, but I literally can’t wait to meet her! All kidding aside, Kim is a breathtakingly beautiful woman, so it’s all the more exciting that her daughter would take after her in appearance.

Even though Kardashian went into labor five weeks before her due date, Khloe tweeted to fans and well wishers that both mommy and baby are happy and healthy, tweeting, “I can not even begin 2describe the miracle that is now apart of our family. Mommy/baby are healthy &resting. We appreciate all of the love. More info will come when the time is right! Thank you all for understanding! We love you all dearly! Overwhelmed with love right now.” The momager of the bunch — and three-time grandma! — Kris Jenner was absolutely glowing at the Daytime Emmy Awards, where she gushed, “”We are all good and extremely happy and thrilled for the new baby. [The baby] is doing great and beautiful. So very exciting.” What’s more, according to HollywoodLife.com, a source close to Kanye exlusively told the site that Yeezy is on board for a K-name, too, saying, “All I know is that they’re going to name it something with a K.”

People reports that baby girl’s middle name could be Donda in honor of Kanye’s late mother, which would be a beuatiful mix of the two families — a little something to keep the Kardashian naming tradition alive while at the same time keeping a piece of Kanye’s mom with baby forever. If that’s the route they choose to go, I think it’s absolutely heartwarming.

Now, back to baby’s rumored name. Because the entire Kardashian Kamp is on lock-down when it comes to Kim’s delivery and name details, we took matters into our own hands. Assuming that Kim and Kanye did settle on a K-inspired moniker to match their own, here are our top picks for baby girl West:

Kaden

Kade

Kaia

Kai

Kail

Kali

Kameron

Kana

Kanan

Kande

Kole

Kasen

Kasia

Kaya

Keira

Kellan

Kerr

Kalian — inspired by Kardashian’s Armenian heritage

Kassel — inspired by a city in Germany, because much of the reality TV star’s pregnancy was spent abroad

Kora

Klara

Keagan

Kala – inspired by Kalamata, a city in Greece where Kardashian and her family traveled to during her pregnancy on a family vaction

Any ideas what Kimye named their baby?

Check out this sweet little girl!

Yesterday, for his first Father’s Day as a new daddy, Channing Tatum showed off his most adorable new addition, daughter Everly!

Baby girl, who is the first child for the proud parents, looks super cozy in daddy’s lap while her proud mom and dad gaze down at all her little sweetness. Born just a few weeks ago on May 31, 2-week-old Everly made her official internet debut last night on mom and dad’s separate Facebook accounts. The doting daddy captioned the image with: “First Father’s Day with my girls” and do believe me when I tell you that my heart just melted to the floor. Aside from the fact that Jenna looks flawless with her new-mom glow, this family of three is a bunch of stunners — and you can just feel the happiness all over!

Daddy isn’t the only one who’s feeling the love, though. His wife captioned the image, “Our lil’ angel” in her own post and even thanked fans and well wishers for their support and congratulations on Twitter, saying, “Thank you everyone for all the loving messages! Chan, myself and Everly are happy as can be and appreciate them all.” These two are so down-to-earth and appreciative, y’all. I almost can’t handle their cuteness.

Also, anyone else love the photo reveal? I do. When it comes to birth announcements a quick photo is simple, touching and it works — especially if you’re a celebrity. And let’s be honest, any chance to hem and haw at Channing Tatum is a welcome distraction, amirite or amirite?

The wait is over! According to a source close to the reality TV star, earlier this morning Kim Kardashian and her beau, Kanye West, became parents, welcoming a baby girl into the world! No word yet on baby’s name, but the starlet did drop a few baby name hints throughout her pregnancy.

Baby girl West arrived slightly ahead of schedule (fashionably early?!) — Kim reportedly wasn’t due until July. Unlike all the other reports, People confirmed that proud new daddy Kanye was by his doting girlfriend’s side throughout delivery and was there to meet his little princess as soon as she arrived.

Baby girl, whose name has yet to be revealed, was reportedly born at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood and made her debut just in time for daddy to celebrate his first Father’s Day. In true Kardashian fashion, baby’s birth wasn’t without drama. According to Us Weekly, a hospital source revealed that baby was “five weeks early. Kim got sick last night and had the baby early.” Thankfully, the source added, “They’re all doing great and amazing!” Reports made by TMZ say that Kim delivered baby girl naturally. Her contractions began Friday night.

Chances are that due to baby’s early birth, she’ll be in the NICU so that doctors can ensure her health and keep a close eye on Kardashian’s precious new cargo. While preemie babies do face some health and developmental risks, it’s way too early to jump to any conclusions. From the looks of it, though, it sounds like baby KimYe is doing just fine in the real world!

And while the gossip sites work to hammer out the details on just how Kim delivered, we’re floored to hear that both mom and baby are doing well! Congratulations to the new parents, the entire Kardashian-West clan — we can’t wait to meet your little diva!

The CPSC just announced a voluntary recall of all remaining models of Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill infant recliners and covers. Today’s recall was announced as part of the settlement reached in the administrative case filed by the CPSC in 2012.

In the past four years, the CPSC staff received over 92 separate complaints surrounding the Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill products, which included five infant deaths. In December of 2012, four major retailers including Amazon.com, BuyBuyBaby, Diapers.com and Babies ‘R Us/Toys ‘R Us.com announced a voluntary recall of all Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill models that were sold in their stores. At that time, the CPSC filed an administrative complaint against Baby Matters LLC, seeking a recall of the Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill infant recliners. Today, they have officially reached an agreement.

As part of the agreement, the CPSC announced just recall on 165,000 Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill products. The recall of the 165,000 products ends the legal proceedings against the firm. These infant recliners sold between 2009 and 2012 for roughly $130. The CPSC suggests that you throw the products away immediately to ensure that they are not used, or resold for profit again. The 165,000 products included in the recall were not sold at major retailers but were instead sold at toy and children’s retail stores nationwide and online, including NapNanny.com.

Because Baby Matters LLC is no longer in business, the CPSC urges customers to stop consumers to immediately stop using any and all Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill recliners.
