(And all you want to pump him full of fluids and food so he gets better soon?) Next time he refuses to eat or drink and you’re worried about dehydration, try this trick from user Christina-marie, who posted this suggestion on our Toddlers 12-24 Months board.

“Once when my son didn’t want to eat or drink anything, my grandmother told me, ‘Give him some milk toast,’” she says. “I had no idea what she was talking about, but basically it’s exactly as the name implies: Make some toast, cut it up into bite-sized portions and then pour milk on it so that it’s wet.”

Grandma knows best! Christina-marie says that the first time she tried this trick, the milk toast “was literally gone in a minute. It also got a bit of fluid into him — two birds, one stone! Thankfully he was fine the next day. Grandma said that all of her kids would eat this when they were sick no matter what! ”

Having trouble feeding baby? You’re not alone! The moms on our Breastfeeding message board shared the #1 piece of advice they wish they’d known when they first started breastfeeding.

“I am sure people have told you, but you will be sore at first. Make sure to get some good lotion, like Lansinoh cream. That was a lifesaver for me!” –dureem

“Good advice I’ve gotten from moms is that if it hurts to breastfeed (as in not just tender nipples, but actual pain) get help from a lactation consultant right away—don’t suffer through it because you assume things will heal. The lactation consultant at my hospital said that most pain is caused by an incorrect latch and that if you don’t correct it, it’s just going to get worse.” –Jinnifah

“Get the numbers for local support groups and lactation consultants if you have a difficult time at first. Be committed, but make sure you have a good latch and don’t continue if it is super-painful without making some changes (breastfeeding should not be very painful if done properly, but a bad latch can cause a lot of pain).” –theresat858

“Make sure you have Lanolin for the first 6 weeks or so and apply it after every feeding and after you shower. Also, give your breasts plenty of air time. That will help with the pain.” –sarahandeddiejune212008

“Ask your hospital if they have a lactation consultant that can come in and help you. There is nothing like on-the-job training and guidance! You can read about it all you want, and take all the classes you want, but the best help will come from someone seeing and helping you.” –gracie__r

“I start pumping as soon as I get home and start storing milk. I found the best thing to do was pump about 2 ounces after each feeding from each breast.” –theabbey5

“My advice is to learn about your anatomy. It was news to me that I had ‘flat’ nipples, which affected my son’s latch.” –courtfsu

“Your milk is most abundant first thing in the morning; if baby only eats off one side, you can pump the other to start your stash. Don’t be surprised if you get very little when you first start pumping (just because you only pump 1 ounce doesn’t mean that’s all baby gets nursing).” –EMO-mamma

“Check your insurance policy! I was pleasantly surprised to find that mine completely covers a lactation consultant to come to my house the week I am home from the hospital, and mostly covers a second visit within two weeks after the first.” -MissMusic

“You have to remember that both you and your little one are learning. The key is to not stress out, or your baby will pick up on that.” –Wifey4Lifey

Pregnancy is already tough, and if you’re working right up until delivery, those last few months with a big belly can be especially hard. We found some great tips from Bumpies on the Working Moms message board for getting through the 3rd Trimester while still working 9 to 5.

Get comfy!

“I brought a huge water bottle, and my boss let me bring a pillow for my back.” –mylittlebee220

“I’m a teacher. I started my 3rd Trimester as the school year began. I got a very comfy chair and did a lot of teaching sitting down.” –waTracy

“Sit when you can. I use interoffice mail more or call people and ask them to come pick something up. I’m tired!” –alwaysduke00

Stay nourished

“I spent my day off prepping snacks for work. I would make little baggies of cut-up veggies, fruit, graham crackers and other little snacks that would be somewhat healthy.” –Anne Mommy

“I made sure I grabbed a cup of ice to munch on from the pantry (I hated drinking water) and usually a small snack every couple hours.” –jesspacatc

“Nutrition is really important to help with energy. Have small snacks every three hours, keep nuts, natural energy bars, and fruit nearby. The snacks really help me.” –veronicad07

Take a break

“Try to stand every 30 minutes and stretch your legs. Do some simple calf stretches and thigh stretches. I’ve also tried wearing medium compression stockings; they’re not too difficult to put on and they really help with leg pain and fatigue.” –veronicad08

“I brought my yoga mat and would close my office door, lie down and stretch out when it got bad.” –jlaOK

“I sit at a desk for nine hours so I made sure I got up at least every hour and took a little walk. If it got bad I went to health services and laid on a cot. The key is to listen to your body!” –kms34

Think about the future

“I kept my eye on the prize: Baby and maternity leave. I just kept working to get to my goal!” –shouldbworkin

What advice would you give a mom-to-be in her 3rd Trimester for getting through those last few months at work?
