In my heart of hearts, I want to give Kim Kardashian every benefit of the doubt that I can. But when I heard that Kiki invited every A-lister to her posh baby shower (supposedly slated for June 2, y’all) with personalized music boxes that, when opened, played Kanye’s hit, “Hey Mama”, complete with a wind-up balleria, I had to seriously rethink my criteria for cutting the star some slack.

I just have to ask: Kim, Kanye — are you two FORREAL? It’s one thing to invite friends and fam and every other celebrity in the phonebook to your star-studded shower as a way to celebrate the impending arrival of baby Kimbryo, but it’s a whole ‘nother can of worms when your invite everyone like this. West’s song, “Hey Mama” was the tribute track he wrote for his very own mama, the late Donda West, who passed away after complications following a cosmetic surgery treatment. Kanye’s hit was (and is) a beautiful ode to the woman who helped make him into the man he is today (sans his all-around jerk-y disposition), who raised him, who believed in him — and who ultimately gave him the courage to go on with his life. It was a beautiful tribute to how much he loved his mom, how proud he was of her and how proud he was to be her son. In the early days, I actually got chills when I listened to the tune. It was beautiful, sweet and heartwarming — filled with everything Kanye West is not.

While I think it’s cute that couple has opted to incorporate Kanye’s mom into the festivities — I find the personalized music boxes and twirling ballerina to be a little tacky. Plus, the ballerina on top is practically icing on the cake: proof that the couple plans to welcome a baby girl to the picture in July. What happened to the plans the couple had previously made? To nix all presents so that friends and well-wishers would donate to charity instead? Now that was a great idea… and an idea that Kanye’s mom would have probably been floored by. But I guess the invitations will match the over-the-top celebration that Kourtney and Khloe are reportedly planning for her.

Not for nothing, but Kim also plans to take their newborn baby on tour in October, when papa West heads out to promote his latest album. When Yeezy takes off three months after the reality star gives birth, Kim plans to travel along, baby in tow, and has apparently already made arrangements for cribs and soundproof rooms on every stop along the way. Not exactly what we had in mind for baby’s first months of life — but I suppose when you’re baby Kimbryo, you’ve got to be ready for anything, right?

Rumor has it that my favorite person in the universe and on the face of the entire earth is expecting BeyBey number two! E! News is reporting that the queen of all things ever created, Beyonce, is currently with child, even though B has remained tight-lipped on the family-of-three’s plans to expand their brood.

If the singer is, in fact, expecting, BeyBey #2 would join big sister (and heiress to the royal Roc throne) Blue Ivy. According to E!, multiple sources have come forward to confirm the mama-to-be’s exciting news. Consider my day made. Forever. For all time.

The rumors of a second baby-on-board came after the singer had to make some adjustments to her world tour schedule. Last week, she was forced to cancel a performance on her Mrs. Carter Show world tour in Antwerp, Belgium because her doctors advised to rest “as a result of dehydration and exhaustion.”

What’s more, Beyonce recently told ABC News that she and husband, Jay Z, would like more children and she thinks her growing girl, Blue Ivy, “needs some company.” Not gonna lie, when Beyonce said Blue needed a pal, I was over here like HEY! B! Adopt me! But, to be honest, I think a full-time sibling would be better. I couldn’t bear the heartache of knowing I wasn’t truly the spawn of Jay and B for the rest of my life.

While they’re just rumors at this point, congratulations to the happy parents-to-be if they really are expecting their second!

There is nothing like the first moment you see your child: whether you’re dreaming of that day, planning for it or thinking back on it, those first moments together are indescribable, beautiful, emotional and incredibly powerful. New mama Holly Madison is letting the world in on her first meeting with her daughter, baby Rainbow, in a new video.

In between pushes, Holly looks to her nurses for support, saying she’s scared — and it’s really beautiful. I think all moms, whether they’re first-timers or seasoned veterans, can relate to Holly at that moment. There’s so much emotion, so much fear, so much excitement that it’s hard to prepare for what comes next, or how you’ll react when you first meet your daughter (or son!). I also love that Holly says she going to cry when she hears baby crying — it’s just so sweet! I’ll admit, I cried too… it was just that adorable!

Myyyyyy goodness I’ve never been so happy for a slip o’ the tongue in my life! While Prince William and his expectant wife, Kate Middleton, have been working hard to keep baby’s sex a secret, baby’s royal Uncle made a big, huge whoopsie over the weekend. Prince Harry apparently slipped up big time and revealed to close friends that the royal baby-on-board is actually a BOY!

The Sunday People is reporting that an insider close to Harry said, “Harry has been telling everyone Wills and Kate are having a boy and how thrilled he is at the prospect of having a little nephew.” Looks like Har really can’t contain his excitement any longer because the insider went on to say, “He said the whole family were excited about it. Apparently Kate has always wanted a boy.”

You guys! Could it be? I swear it’s true. I mean, come on. We predicted Kate was carrying a baby boy and thanks to good ole’ Harry, we know it’s true! The royal insider added, “They’re really working hard on baby names now and think they have it sorted. But they won’t reveal anything to ­anyone — not even Harry.” Uh, can you blame them? Dude can’t even keep baby’s sex a secret!

“Of course,” the source said, “Harry’s been making up crazy suggestions and winding them up too. The close inner circle all know that it’s a boy and they’re busily buying gifts with a boy theme. There will be an awful lot [o]f blue in their house.” Um, yeah there is! Especially since Kate recently purchased a blue buggy to push baby around.

So since Harry dropped the ball on the biggest royal secret of our lifetime, I’d like to be the first to say that I’m digging the baby boy name choice that the expectant parents have reportedly decided it on. And come on — a mini me for Will? What’s not to love about that?!

I honestly never thought I’d see the day but alas, the day has come! Our super-famous, super-fabulous and super-over-the-top parents-to-be Kim Kardashian and her beau, Kanye West, have done the absolute unthinkable. The couple, who will become first-time parents in July, have asked for something so outrageous for their baby that just hearing the news actually made me dizzy.

Now, I knew the day would eventually come when Kimye finally put together a registry for their baby-to-be, but bless their hearts, I was not prepared for what would be on the couple’s list.

Perez Hilton and TMZ are reporting that Kim and Yeezy have officially created baby’s registry — and that the couple has reportedly told all of their friends, family and well-wishers that  they do not wish to receive any gifts and would instead like donations to be made to a charity. Say what?! And even though the couple apparently didn’t request donations go to any one place in particular, it’s reported that they did suggest the Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, which was where Kanye grew up.

I can’t even tell you how happy, excited and proud I am that the two-some opted to have their friends donate to charity instead of seizing the opportunity to stock up on lavish gifts. Though Kim has every right to have a registry, it’s really sweet to see her maternal instincts take over and to know they’ve giving back to other children in need. All the rest, well, it’s no surprise they can fund it themselves!

Kudos, Kimye and Kimbryo! We are proud of you!

With the seemingly endless parade of pregnant and new-mom celebrities in the public eye, we are bombarded with images of growing baby bumps, speculation (and judgement) about pregnancy weight gain and inevitable tales of how quickly (or not-so-quickly) stars shed their weight after baby comes. And we love it! You won’t catch me criticizing our fascination with pregnant celebrities. I recognize that we somehow identify with stars on a more human level as they pass through the rites of passage in motherhood. It makes me wonder, though, if most moms-to-be know the facts about their baby weight? Do you know how much is considered normal and healthy weight gain during pregnancy? Or where that weight comes from?

Normal weight gain during pregnancy is 25 to 35 pounds if you were at a healthy weight before becoming pregnant. For those who were underweight before pregnancy, the healthy range is higher than average at 28-40 pounds. If you were overweight before becoming pregnant, you can stand to gain a little less since your body already has the fat stores it needs for breastfeeding, bringing the healthy range down to 15-25 pounds. Women who are considered obese prior to pregnancy should gain no more than 20 pounds for the healthiest pregnancy experience, decreasing the risk of diabetes and high blood pressure. If you want to see where you fall in the average body weight spectrum, calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI).

If you wonder why you need to gain at least 15 pounds to grow a healthy baby, consider the distribution of your baby weight:

Baby: 7-8 pounds
Placenta: 1.5-2 pounds
Uterus: 2 pounds
Amniotic Fluid: 1.5- 2 pounds
Extra Maternal Blood: 3-4 pounds
Additional Breast Tissue: 1.5-2 pounds

These are just the essentials, weighing in at over 16 pounds and don’t include the average 4 pounds of retained fluids and recommended 7 pounds of fat stores needed for the demands of breastfeeding.

Most women gain less than 5 pounds during the first trimester, then around a pound a week for the duration of the pregnancy. Some weeks you may gain more, some less — which is normal as baby experiences growth spurts at different points. For those conscientious about pregnancy weight gain, be sure not to limit caloric intake to a degree that can jeopardize your baby’s health. And for those who think that pregnancy is your license to eat for two and succumb to your cravings, weighing in once a week to keep yourself in the healthy range of weight gain can help keep you and baby healthy throughout pregnancy and make losing the baby weight postpartum not so daunting a task.
