Is it just us or does the new Disney movie Brave look totally adorable? Maybe it’s the heroine’s cute Scottish accent in the trailer (“If ye had a chance to change yer fate, wouldje?”) Or maybe it’s the fact that, with its Scottish motifs, it looks just different enough than other kids’ movies. Shhh. Don’t tell me who died on the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy. Like plenty of other time-strapped parents out there, I’m waiting for it to come to On Demand (and as of this weekend, it hadn’t yet). In the meantime, I’ll be trying to catch more of the season’s conclusions and cliffhangers in real time. Yup, it’s TV finale mania right now. Which is why we wanted to inspire you with our favorite TV baby names from this season on TV.

I got to catch a pre-release screening of the What to Expect When You’re Expecting movie last night, and I have to say, if you’re here on The Bump (which you obviously are), you’ll want to catch this flick.

Like so many rom coms before it (Love Actually, He’s Just Not That Into You and the like), What to Expect follows several couples played by a bevy of stars — Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Elizabeth Banks, Chace Crawford, Brooklyn Decker and more — whose lives are somehow loosely intertwined. They’re all going through pregnancy or adoption and we get to see how it all plays out.

Sure, the movie is oftentimes predictable and feeds into a few stereotypes and myths, but it has the right balance of touching and hilarious. And it touches on a lot of topics we discuss here on The Bump every day, like pregnancy symptoms, relationship issues, c-sections and birth plans. Even tough stuff like infertility, miscarriage and deciding whether or not to circumcise. There are a few “surprise” pregnancies, one that was years in the making and one adoption. And of course, everyone has their own drama and issues to resolve before the baby arrives.

Watch out for really funny performances from Dennis Quaid, who plays an egotistical, aging new dad; Chris Rock, the head of the “dudes group” (the dad “fight club,” minus the fighting and plus sippy cups); and Rebel Wilson, who plays a store assistant who’s wonderfully weird and outrageous.

My favorite by far character is Wendy, played by Elizabeth Banks, who tries for two years to get pregnant and when she does, ends up having a pretty tough time of it. She has a really great speech, where she’s supposed to be talking about the joy of pregnancy and birth and instead says, “I’m calling bull$#!% on the whole thing. Pregnancy sucks… I didn’t get the glow. I just got the backne and the hemorrhoids.” Of course, in the end (don’t worry, no spoiler here), she’s still really happy she did it. There’s nothing more Bumpie than that.

How I Met Your Mother isn’t exactly the most realistic show on TV — tonight was the second time its plot line included a bride leaving her groom at the altar (has anyone actually seen that happen in real life?) — but I was happy it depicted going into labor more realistically than many TV shows and movies do.

We’ve seen those going-into-labor scenes all too often: the mom-to-be is walking down the street or at the fashion show she’s producing when her water suddenly breaks and she has to get to the hospital stat. But in HIMYM‘s season finale, Lily (played by Alyson Hannigan) went into labor at home, called her doctor and was told to wait there for a while — until her contractions were four minutes apart — before heading to the hospital. In the meantime, her friends Robin and Ted tried to distract her from her labor discomforts by telling her stories. This is actually more likely to be the case with first-time pregnancies, since they tend to progress relatively slowly. In fact, early labor (the kind that has you hanging out at home with steady contractions that aren’t frequent or painful enough for the maternity ward to admit you) can last about six to twelve hours if you’ve never given birth before.

Of course, in the episode, there was still the overdone scenario where the partner (Lily’s husband Marshall) had to sober up and hurry to the hospital to be at the expectant mom’s side by the time the baby was born. But hey, otherwise, where’s the drama?
