Shakira is a brand-new mom!

The Colombian-born singer and her Spanish soccer star partner Gerard Piqué announced on her website today, “We are happy to announce the birth of Milan Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born January 22nd at 9:36 pm, in Barcelona, Spain.”

They went on to explain their baby’s name (and his soccer allegiance!): “The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification… Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.”

Milan weighed in at 6 pounds 6 ounces, and both he and Shakira are reported to be in excellent health.

Earlier in the day, Shakira tweeted, “I’d like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life.” And important it was!

Congratulations to the (completely gorgeous) new family!

On Wednesday, singer Shakira announced that she and boyfriend Girard Pipque, a central defender for FC Barcelona, are expecting their first child next year. She shared the news with fans on her website, explaining that the pregnancy would affect upcoming performances.

“As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby! At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days,” she wrote.

“This means I will not be able to be a part of the iHeartRadio Music Festival, but I’m sure this weekend in Las Vegas will be spectacular and I will be closely following everything that happens there!”

This follows another major announcement from Shakira. On Tuesday, NBC stated that the Colombian singer would temporarily replace Christina Aguilera as a judge on season four of The Voice.

Does a baby on the way also mean a wedding is in the works for the couple, who have been together for over a year? We’ll have to wait and see.
